Are you looking for an engaging, educational environment to meet with other parents who have children with learning disabilities and/or ADHD? If so, our Parent Support Group may be right for you.Cutout Figurines

The goal of these meetings is to provide parents and caregivers with a forum to:

      • Discuss problems, exchange solutions and share information
      • Share and talk about common experiences of parenting a child with an LD/ADHD
      • Develop an awareness of the services available in schools and the community
      • Rebuild self-esteem and foster confidence in parenting skills

Meetings are facilitated by LDAO-C staff or community facilitators. Topics of discussion vary based on the needs of the group.

TOPIC: “So What?” Demystifying the Psychoeducational Assessment Report

Guest Speakers: Dr. Maggie Mamen  

Dr. Maggie Mamen will provide some clarification of what psychoeducational assessments actually assess and why.  Parents, teachers and psychologists  are all welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Dr. Maggie Mamen is a psychologist who has been involved in the field of learning disabilities for over 35 years.  She works in private practice in Ottawa, and provides consultation and follow-up for individuals with LD and their parents.  She is the author of Understanding Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Common-Sense Guide for Parents and Professionals, and is committed to encouraging her fellow professionals to be mindful of how to communicate assessment results in meaningful and practical ways.
